Today we bought 50 stuffed animals for the kids in the orphange we go to visit. It was joy watching my two sons carefully choose the animals: would a child like this one? this one is too beat up. is this one cute enough? They dug through many trying to find the right ones. Then we get them home, count them up, check them all to see if any need mending, decide if they are boy animals or girl animals. Then my sons go to their stuffed animal stash and donate some from there saying that their animals will enjoy the ride over and get lots of love in their new home.
I love that my sons are excited about their soon to be siblings, making plans for them all and counting down the days until we leave. I know it will be an adjustment for them, but to see that their heart is accepting to the situation helps me to know that it will all work out. They said this morning at breakfast, "Now you are going to have even more children from Ukraine!"
Yes, we are!

How exciting! I keep thinking about my kids at home and how this process is affecting them (in a good way). It's the classic that our actions speak louder than words. We can tell our children that we are following the Lord and we can tell them we love the poor and oppressed. It's when our actions match our words that they see the love of Jesus!
Do you know what region you will be adopting from?
Hey can you please email me? We just got back from Ukraine. mdbotto@gmail.com I'm a friend of Jenny Borden's - she just commented on your blog.
Thanks
